A Goldilocks morning

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite recipe?

Well I’ll tell you what it’s not.

This morning for the first time in my forty-eight years I decided to make homemade oatmeal.

I boiled some rolled oats. And as per the advice from my older sister, added cocoa powder and peanut butter. Not sweet enough so I stirred in some honey.

Of course, because I tend to not measure most ingredients when cooking, I had added way too much salt to the water when I boiled it. So my porridge, if you will, tasted of salt and cocoa powder and really not much else.

I did finish it but it wasn’t the tastiest thing ever.

Dad & me, I spose he was going to let me help blow out the candles

  4. 8 candles, surely you weren’t 8 in that photo, or maybe just random candles added by a cute 3yo you? Or a sister’s birthday you get to blow out the candles again? I don’t know why my brain goes this way!

  5. Well, you’re better than me. The only oatmeal I eat is the instant kind, add water, microwave, and it’s ready. One day I’ll attempt to make it the right way. So good for you, my friend.

    1. I will attempt it again, I really liked the texture of the oats themselves, much larger ‘n bulkier than the instant ones. Definitely try it!

      2. Oh yeah wayyy less sugar I’m sure, and probably the traditional brown sugar/milk on it would be great too…my sister just got me hooked when she mentioned chocolate (well cocoa powder) and pb on hers, like what could be better lol
