Paper chains

Prompt courtesy of Rojie:

For those who celebrate the holidays, when do you put up your tree or decorations?

I was late this year, decorating and putting up the trees and as a result, I feel rushed and a bit behind.

It doesn’t help that my daughter Bella-Lena and I decided to completely redo the way we decorate and MADE most of the decorations. It involved a lot of glue gunning, stapling and cutting paper. She also made pom pom’s from yarn and a bunch of bows from velvet ribbon.

Super time consuming.

We actually still haven’t finished the tree completely or hung up all the paper snowflakes from the ceiling.

Besides that, I am doing my Christmas baking at the same time. I have about ten or so different desserts/squares/treats that I usually make doubles of, so that there’s enough for us and also to give out to friends, family, teacher etc.

Back to the prompt, I like to wait until at least December 1 to decorate and put up the trees. I can’t get into the festive spirit in November. It just feels wrong for some reason. Then December rolls around, my outlook changes completely, and I’m like, let’s get our Christmas on!

December 3, 3:43 pm…days are even shorter now

  1. in a few days, the days will start to get longer again albeit by minutes only πŸ™‚

i know what you mean about putting up the tree. the calendar alignment between US thanksgiving and december 1 didn’t leave much room to put up the tree as i like to have my tree up by the conclusion of the first week of december, at latest. for us, the calendar space between thanksgiving and december 1 will start to widen after this year until 3 years down the line when we have a whole week from thanksgiving to get the tree up before dec.

beautiful photo btw. our snow is already melted down, i don’t think we’ll have any for christmas. can’t wait to hear/see how you and bella-lena finished the new decor style, i bet sid will love it! Mike

    1. Yeah it’s almost like there’s such a small window of the perfect time to set up the tree!
I love it when the days start to get longer β˜€οΈ

      So lucky lucky you!!!

Sid does love the tree but that’s probably mostly because there are presents under it 🀭

  2. What a beautiful post and photo at the end.
I’d love to see all of your decorations when you’re done. They sound like you put a lot of time and effort into them. Do share! 😊
And – don’t laugh – (okay, go ahead!) – I put my tree up always – the end of July / early August because I want that holiday feeling sooner than later, and I start Christmas shopping, so my excuse is “The gifts need somewhere to go!”. lmao

Have a great weekend my friend!

      1. Lol My kids think I’m crazy every year, but I justify it by needing somewhere to put the gifts. πŸ˜‚

      1. The 16 year old member of the Demaras Racing family did not want her school craft decorations on the tree this year. Kind of a sad moment.
