Nowhere to go

Sometimes when you live in the bush in the middle of nowhere, it starts to get to you during these long winters. Kind of like feeling trapped or nearly claustrophobic. Bushed is a word we use.

So yesterday the girls and I went for a drive south of town just to Paint Lake. An easy twenty minute drive. Not far and this time of year there’s nothing to do there. The restaurant at the marina isn’t open for the most part all winter. But at least we got out of town.

We drove up and down the snow packed roads looking at the houses. Stopped every now and then so I could get out of the car to take a photo.

The sun doesn’t get very high this time of year, 2:30 pm
A winter wonderland, the sun doesn’t even get above the trees

  2. Beautiful photos!! but yeah, that sun is LOW. I went to Helsinki in January once. It reminds me of that. The Finns just loved their saunas. I think that’s how they get through their winters.

  3. This is truly beautiful. The images paint a world full of words, left unsaid or not needed to be said, yet understanding remains clear. Yet yearning for adventure seems to linger heavy.
