About ten years ago, I started the tradition where I pick out and purchase my birthday and Christmas gift from Clint and then he reimburses me.
Because why on earth would anyone want to receive a gift from their spouse, that they actually don’t like and then have to pretend for the rest of your life that you do like it?
I can’t be bothered. And trust me, he’s relieved.
Maybe some spouses are in tune with what the other likes, wants, needs, desires, but mine is not. I think I pick out good gifts for him but he’s just not a good gift picker outer.
So I do it myself.
I do also buy myself flowers. I’m not gonna sit around and whine or complain that I never get flowers. I do get flowers. To me, from me.
