I ‘spose ending world hunger is a big ask. However, I would like to have enough to help out at least a couple of families within my community.
I mean I do, from time to time, answer the call for small things requested on a FB group called ‘helping one another Thompson’. I can’t stand to see people with small kids struggling for basic things.
But if I had enough money I could completely support them and give them not just basic needs but all the extras as well, including a nice vacation at least once a year. Even if it was anonymously.
Speaking of vacations, I wish I had enough money to go on a vacation at least twice a year. Traveling with four kids gets expensive though. The way costs have risen, flights for five people, plus hotels, food and spending money, it’s made vacationing once a year hard to pull off. Plus my girls are both in University. So there’s that.
I’ve thought about maybe taking one kid at a time on a holiday, to make it more affordable and plus have the bonus of one on one time with them. But I know this wouldn’t go over well with them. Plus we all have so much fun together. So I don’t know.
Now that I read it back, it sounds a bit frivolous, worrying about vacations when some people are struggling for real just to put food on the table. I am very grateful to not have food insecurities right now and really, I feel like instead of worrying about vacations, I should put extra money into filling gaps for people who do.
