Riding in old jalopies

How has your idea of being successful in life changed over the years? (Prompt courtesy: https://thecoffeemonsterzco.com/en-ca/blogs/midnight-blogging/journaling-prompts)

When I was young and foolish, success to me equated wealth, as in a good job, a big house, nice cars and a few kids. It was probably derived from tv shows or commercials where those who were or seemed happy, had the nicest things in life.

I’m nearly fifty and now think that success in life has little to do with material things.

Success now means comfortable and close relationships with loved ones. (Where permittable, not everyone should be allowed in even if they’re family.)

Success to me is also about peace of mind, or peace within your mind. Feeling complete when you are alone. Being satisfied with what you have and not wanting more, okay that’s a hard one for me.

I could live in a tiny house and drive an old jalopy and still feel successful, they are not one in the same.

Happy Monday!
