I stood in the doorway of the grade one classroom and paused because I wasn’t too sure about going in. My older sister, starting grade two, was behind me and gently pushed me in.
That’s one of my core five year old memories. Because of when my birthday fell, I skipped kindergarten and went straight into grade one, so that day was my very first day of school.
As far as career ideas at that age, I do not recall any.
Of my fifth year on this earth I literally only remember that first day of school, the girl in the desk in front of me turning around and pinching me on the arm and the way the teacher flipped through this big heavy coil-bound book that must’ve contained her lesson plans.
Oh, and playing Heads Up 7-Up and Duck Duck Goose.
