A CJ 2.0

Do you care about leaving a legacy and people remembering who you are? (Prompt courtesy: https://thecoffeemonsterzco.com/en-ca/blogs/midnight-blogging/journaling-prompts)

Absolutely not. Nearly everyone is eventually forgotten.

Some are remembered longer than others, but not always for good reasons. Take the vile, disgusting, despicable current President of the US, for example.

Those who are famous for something are remembered longer, especially if put into history books. But those characters are not always someone to be revered either.

I only wish to be remembered by my kids and hopefully their kids. Anything beyond that would be great but most likely not realistic. And I’m cool with that.

As far as legacy goes, I hope my recipes are passed down. I hope those after me will choose to make most food from scratch, (within reason). I hope if once I’m gone and one of my kids or grandkids is making pancakes from a mix they bought at the store, they at least point out how I will be rolling over in my grave because of it. And I will be. Well, no I won’t be rolling literally because I’ll be reduced to ashes.

I also hope they will do some sort of charity work or volunteer at a cause they believe in. This is such an underrated fulfillment booster and important for community.

Selfishly, you know what I’d love? I’d be over the moon thrilled if one of my kids or even their kids named their offspring “CJ”. That would be so cool, I’ll have to casually mention that sometime.

Sid’s teacher sends pics every now and then on the Bloomz app, it’s so cute to see what they’re actually doing at school

  2. Seems like a lovely school, and I love everything you wrote here. My immediate thought when I read the question was exactly yours, considering how obsessed the current President of the US is with putting his name all over everything.

  4. I’m with you about legacies. I’m just focused on what I can do now for my community and on making sure my family has what they need. When I’m gone, I’m gone, and I don’t even bother thinking about what others will say about me. My family tells me now, while I’m alive, and that’s what matters.
