Fave of my faves

Write about a book, movie, or show that changed how you see the world. (Prompt courtesy of: Just Rojie, if you visit her site she made a whole month’s worth of prompts for April, thanks Rojie!)

My faves

I have books on several bookshelves but I keep most of my faves here, all together.

What’s missing is:

Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty, which is at work

21 Things You May Not Know About The Indian Act by Bob Joseph, which I’ve lent out to a coworker

From the Ashes by Jesse Thistle, which I also lent out to a coworker

It’s really hard to pick one absolute favourite from these as they’ve all taught me things and opened up my world, immensely.

Whether it was learning about myself, my ego, my thoughts, my habits or others’ lives and struggles, OR the history of our country, they’ve all filled gaps for me in one way or another.

I have to say probably the one that sticks with me the most is A Thousand Spendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini. This was a very popular work of fiction and rightfully so. I read it maybe fifteen years ago and re-read it once.

I think the Google synapsis will explain it better than I can:

  1. I read Kite Runner by the same author. It definitely impacted my impression of Afghanistan. Pretty horrific.
