Unforgettable

Describe the most peaceful place you’ve ever been (real or imagined). (Thanks Rojie for the prompt!)

There was this moment when the kids and I vacationed in Sooke, British Columbia on Vancouver Island, where I was sitting in a comfy chair with a cup of coffee and my view was the ocean.

We’d slid the patio doors completely open, so the whole wall was open to air essentially, and a breeze was coming in from the west.

The sun was shining and there was nothing to take in but the ocean.

I’m happy that I took the time to be present in that moment and really soak it in. I remember the relaxed feeling that came over me.

Having been a land-locked prairie girl my whole life, being near the ocean is always awe-inspiring and proves to be unforgettable.

I have to go back!

    1. Right?! People who live by the water are soooo lucky!
I’m still not over The Correspondent Edward, I meant to say last week that as I read it I thought, why are people not writing letters anymore? I mean besides the obvious answer, email. But writing an actual letter is so much more personal! A lost art. I hope it makes a comeback someday.
Also, my favourite line from the book comes after the letter her birth mother wrote to her adoptive parents where she says “So that’s where this all began. You would think I’d have it down to memory by now, but for some reason the only part that stays for word in memory was is the bit about being born at dawn under a pink sunrise. Isn’t that lovely? MAKES ME MISS A THING I NEVER REALLY HAD”. Ughhh i just love that last line!

      1. Yes, it’s amazing. About The Correspondent, I thought the same thing, but even though we’re probably not going back to letters, we could do better at writing emails. While reading the book, I was picturing how I could write an email that way, especially by asking what the person is currently reading at the end of the email.
