TMI as usual

What’s a small w (win) from this week that deserves celebrating? (Thanks for the prompt Rojie!)

Okay I’m just going to come right out and say it even if the men who are reading don’t care and some of the women reading will not care but it’s my blog and I’m going to write whatever I bloody well want, and though it’s NOT the win of this week, it’s a big deal (not in a good way).

Despite the cramps and the pms and catching a cold, because yes, women’s immune systems dip right before they get their periods, I seem to not be getting my period this month.

First time ever. I’m 49 so it is to be expected. But it makes me sad just the same. I really don’t want these changes to happen. I don’t want to stop ovulating and being able to produce a baby.

Why the heck would a 49 year old want to be able to get pregnant, you may ask. Well, I don’t actually, I just don’t want to feel old.

I can’t believe this is happening. It’s such a rip off. I’ve had such bad cramps this past week, really sore breasts, super duper cranky and for what?? Nothing? For nothing? No period?

In my next life I’m coming back as a man. They have it so easy. Luckily I have a partner who is sympathetic to these things, I know from experience some men aren’t. But still, I want to be the one just hearing about it not the one experiencing it.

So what’s next, I’m not even going to ovulate?? Ugghhh. I love ovulating. I feel so extra happy and energetic. I ‘spose that’s next to disappear too.

Maybe this post is for women’s eyes only, I don’t know.

Okay, back to the wins for this week. Well for starters the sun comes up really early now. Just before 6 am. So I love that. In December I recall that I complained about the short daylight hours when the sun doesn’t show its face til after 9 am, so here we are and it’s just terrific that it comes up super early.

The temperature is still below zero here but it’s supposed to get better as the days go and I see sun and above zero temps by Thursday. The high that day is plus 9 (48 in Fahrenheit) so wahoo break out the summer clothes!

Dressing like summer even though it’s winter is thanks to my 49 year old hypothalamus, IYKYK

  1. men suffer too. we are not taught how to listen or how to deal with our emotions. my mother was 48 when she haD me but i was not planned or wanted. she favoured me cos she had four daughters.

  4. Actually, I’m all for nature allowing females to give birth longer in life than they are currently do. A 50, 60, or older pregnant female, would be very sexy looking.

  5. Just you wait…it’s gonna come again at an odd time and be a blood bath. When they finally stop for real you’re gonna be thrilled. I was 55.

  8. Hair looks beautiful. Seems you can do no wrong! When cycles are irregular or begin tapering off, all the symptoms of still ovulating persist. Would be good to check your levels if you find yourself feeling ‘quite different’. I went on hormone therapy at 54, but wish I’d done it much earlier.

    1. Thank you Stephanie! It’s taking a lot of getting used to and i’ll probably always miss my black hair, i go back friday to get it lighter still!
I’m happy to hear i’ll still enjoy ovulating for a bit, that’s really good news!
I also started HRT a few months back but maybe need an adjustment of doses yep

      1. It’s at least good to talk to your doc about, so you can at least know what you should or could expect. And of course you will miss the gorgeous black hair you’ve had for so long! You are fortunate that you seem to be able to carry off either light or dark, though!
