Nothing at all

What’s something small that immediately makes your day better?

Something small that makes my day better is nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing is a something I suppose. But what I mean by that is that I don’t want anything to happen. I like the ordinary, the usual. No changes.

Found this out big time yesterday when at 6:30 am my next door neighbour messaged me to see if there was anybody here who could run over and look after her kids as her partner had been taken by ambulance to the ER because of chest pain.

I was just taking my first sip of coffee. I had my journal beside me and my jade roller. About to enjoy a long slow morning as Sid had no school and I wasn’t going into work until about 9:30.

Found out I’m actually not very adaptable. My brain was only in first gear so I told her to bring the kids here, which she did around 7 am. They are 2 and 5. It was their first time being in my house and I’d really only said hello, good morning etc to them prior to yesterday morning.

Thankfully, of course because Sid is also 5, we have a house full of toys to entertain small kids.

It all went well, there were no problems but it kind of shook the way the rest of my day went. I missed my quiet morning.

Okay get over it, it’s not that big of a deal, (I tell myself). Imagine being in her shoes and waking up to a text message saying your husband had been taken by EMS from work to the ER. Imagine that feeling.

So yeah, a little thing that I’d love to have happen, to make my day better, is nothing at all.

Not sure if the video will play but the kids & I were sharing their oldest snapchat memories, this one’s about 10 years ago

  4. Sounds like you’re getting set in your ways! Welcome to my world. It’s 215pm Texas time, and after doing dishes, a load of laundry, including folded and put away, it’s time to head out for a little work. Set in my ways too, as this is my normal Saturday routine. Blessings upon your weekend!

      1. 😆 I get grumpy when I’m looking forward to a quiet moment to recharge and it gets disrupted.

      1. Don’t worry, I follow the 5-second rule! You can definitely eat it off the floor as long as it’s been there for 5 seconds or less. 🤣 I counted, so you’re good. 😂 I’m a creature of habit, too. I get a little irritated if anything out of the ordinary happens before my morning coffee. I’m working on it though.

  7. Timely that I’m reading this now. I’ve been off for three whole days and wasn’t supposed to have a long day tomorrow, but they called. I said yes right away, but every time I think about it I get grumpy. It’s just 3 hours more to my shift. Jeez. 🙂 Especially since I’m taking the dream art course, all I want to do is paint and play all day.

      1. Not at all. Nor are you alone in then adding some weird guilt on top of that! 😀
