It’s weird

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?

This prompt made me realize how very unspontaneous I am. Also, if you say the word “spontaneous” over and over, it’s a very fun word.

I know that there were times when I was younger, and the kids were younger, where I packed up the car and we went out of town for a few days, mostly unplanned.

Do we all get less spontaneous as we age? Or should I blame the dog and the cat? You can’t be as spontaneous, at least around leaving, when you have pets that you have to make plans for.

Also, I’ve turned into one of those people who doesn’t like to differ from my norm very much. I’m kind of, what’s the word, superstitious maybe(?), about veering off from the usual.

For example, even for small things like going uptown for groceries, I like to take my usual route. Because why? Well I don’t want to die in a head on collision and the news story (as though it would make the news) involve my family saying ‘she always went THIS way to go uptown but unfortunately today she went THAT way uptown and found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time’.

In other words, had I gone uptown via the usual streets, I’d still be here today.

Weird right?

I’m far right, Dad in middle & Grampa Smith (Mom’s dad) far left…circa 1996ish

😀 I bet Remi is reading this over your shoulder from wherever he’s laying down and smiling that he is valued that much to be the scheduling bottleneck. 🙂
as for a sudden divergence in routine – i only do that when I sense that i’m “too in the routine” and something fate related can catch me and harm me. otherwise, I am with you in that i don’t like to get out of my normal path. it’s too stressful for me.Mike

    1. We used to bring her on trips when she was the baby of the family lol, before Sid came along but she got bumped down a notch when that happened ☺️
I admire people who will jump up and spontaneously do something big!

  5. Our dog is pretty good at hibernating (as we call it) when we spend most of the day out, but we usually take him with us on unplanned trips and make reservations in pet-friendly hotels on the fly. But I hear you, pets are definitely a factor.

    1. Pets are a factor and just being a boring person in general is a factor lol

      1. 😂 Well, boring is ok sometimes. I can be that way when necessary. 🤣

      3. Yes, you know, when you don’t really want to go out and just want to chill at home. Turning on “boring mode” helps deflect the energetic people around you. But I have never done that, of course. 😂
