A mom having a mid-life crisis

If you had a podcast, what would you talk about?

I don’t know. I’ve yet to listen to a podcast. I prefer to read things rather than hear them. I don’t even like watching videos on social media, just let me read it.

The only exception to this is if I’m on the elliptical, to make the torturous time speed up, I will watch clips of stand-up comedy on Instagram reels.

Now if I had a podcast, hmmmm…I ‘spose I’d talk like I do here. About really nothing in particular. I’m not a pro at anything.

I’m a mom but I’m sure there are a million and one moms on podcasts talking about mom’ing. And anyway I’m one of those “type b” moms, so my chill anti-helicopter parenting skills are kind of frowned upon, (lol).

I’m a woman about to enter the fifth decade of life and unfortunately in perimenopause (eeek) but I’m sure there’s plenty of females out there already doing that.

As far as hobbies go, this is it. I am, I will, get back into exercising as soon as my school year is done. I have gotten back into walking though, luckily I’m vain enough to not want flabby legs. There have been a couple of days this week where I reached 11 000-12 000 steps!

Yeah so I don’t know, I’m not cut out for a podcast I don’t think.

Is there an audience for a type b mom who is nearly fifty and keeps a messy, very un-aesthetic maximalist house, full of thrifted things that others considered junk and who cooks every night despite pretty much despising the idea of a “normal” relationship passed down to me where gender roles exist too much and I just wish it wasn’t on me to cook every night because I’m the woman.

Maybe I’m about to have a mid-life crisis, now THAT would be something to talk about.

PS To be fair, Clint did cook last night because he caught fish the night before and he’s the fish cooker in the family.

Okay don’t laugh at my photography lol…I walked by the bedroom and thought aww that old chair there in front of the windows looks so cute so I sat down to take a pic and then I saw the lace at the bottom of my housecoat, robe, whatever and thought yes let’s include that too and then I played around with the Fltr app and this is what I decided on…would’ve been better if it was dark outside but the days are so long it doesn’t actually get dark til 11, or later. This pic was taken at 10:15 pm

  1. For someone who says she has nothing to talk about, you managed to write a very entertaining post about it. I think you’d be surprised how many people would enjoy listening to a podcast that’s as honest and relatable as your blog.

  3. I follow a wonderful photographer in Helsinki…she’s got that wild, late-night light too. I think you should podcast about living SO far North. There must be ways you all adapt to that.

  4. It doesn’t get dark until 11? Wow… I can’t even imagine. I think I’d like that. My internal clock might get screwed up, though.

as for a podcast, yeah- its a big thing to do a podcast let alone listen to one. I’ve listened to a few and they were ok. if you do end up doing a podcast, I would totally tune in! Mike
