Grace, too

What’s that one song that you keep going back to when you’re in a funk?

I don’t know but I better find one soon because it just dawned on me that I’m in the last six months of my forties.

The end is coming. December 21 I’ll be fifty. No more forty-something. Crap.

Grace. That’s a good thing to wish for. To live with. The Tragically Hip played the anthems of many Canadians for a couple of decades until, (tragically), the lead singer passed away from brain cancer.

    1. I only started enjoying their music recently! I mean, of course I was well aware of them, since high school even, but because my ex-husband was a huge fan of them, I felt I had to not like them lol, although I did go with him to one of their concerts once…anyway now I am starting to really appreciate their songs.

  2. i love this CJ.

we are living in times where new tech consistently washes away what we thought were – or built to – be rooted in the ground. we’re forced to rethink almost everything we thought we knew because new information keeps coming out. i think, because of this, it’s more important than ever to give ourselves grace. maybe it helps us to maintain an emotional flexibility…or at least, that’s how I like to think it is. 3. I need to listen to more Tragically Hip.

The fifties are great, CJ. It’s like standing on the middle of the see-saw, where you can look backward and forward with equal measure, or like the part of the day during summer where the sun isn’t quite as bright, but it’s still nice to sit outside in. πŸ™‚

  5. I think when men and women get older, via life experiences esc the getting older part, we understand eachother better. I’m not saying all men and women, just the ones whom are grounded.

    1. I would agree with that Jake, getting older makes harder in the way that you’ll put up with less but also softer in the way that time goes so fast, so don’t take everything so seriously 😌

  7. Being 50 is awesome; embrace it, my friend. I’m about to be 53 next month, and each year is a blessing. There is a song by Meredith Brooks that might help with the funk. I’m not a woman, but I like the song, and it goes like this:

    “I hate the world today
You’re so good to me, I know, but I can’t change
Tried to tell you but you look at me like maybe
    I’m an angel underneath
    Innocent and sweet

    Yesterday I cried
You must have been relieved to see the softer side
I can understand how you’d be so confused
    I don’t envy you
I’m a little bit of everything all rolled into one…”

Here is the link in case you don’t know the song I’m talking about: https://youtu.be/_ivt_N2Zcts?si=MyCpPyK6kxQZ69Ov
