A toast to toast

What’s your go-to late-night snack?

Although I should be staying away from carbs and well, bread in general, I’m a toast girl.

Toast is the perfect snack, no matter what time of the day. Maybe it’s a generation thing? Or a ‘I grew up kind of poor’ thing?

You wouldn’t catch my kids snacking on toast if their lives depended on it.

My absolute favourite morning indulgence right now is a cup of black coffee, sweetened with honey accompanied by a slice of rye bread, toasted and topped with a bit of butter to keep it soft and, well, make it even tastier, then peanut butter and then slices of banana on top. I could eat this all day long I swear.

I enjoy toast with peanut butter at any time of the day but a toasted tomato sandwich will also suffice or just buttered toast alongside scrambled eggs that are topped with salsa.

Avocado toast is another go-to of mine. Toast with beans. Garlic toast with spaghetti or lasagna or chick parm.

When we were camping last week, Clint was in charge of cooking pretty much everything but I made sure I cooked toast in the morning to accompany our bacon and eggs. Toasted bread right over the open fire, so delicious.

Maybe it’s the British blood in me that has me in a toast-hold? Who else loves toast, anyone?

Clint said “take a pic, I want to show Paul how well these eggs are cooking and not sticking even a little bit” (to this pan thing he paid $250 for), but also in the shot is me making toast

  3. I rediscovered toast last year, when we switched to a better brand of bread in the store. So good! I love it with homemade jams and jellies too, which the ladies at my church make all year round for fundraising. 😋

  5. Toast for the win! It’s often my evening meal when Himself’s out of province. I could give up sandwiches, but never toast.

  6. I’m with you about the toast. I can eat that all day, too. My favorite is avocado toast with a fried egg. Super awesome! I think Baby RR wants to go camping too.

  8. I grew up on just toasted white bread. Tomato and mayo on toast, Country Crock on toast, my aunt would always make us cinnamon sugar toast when she babysat us. I know people also grew up eating buttered bread, but I would not choose to do that just on a slice of sandwich bread, it always has to be toasted haha

    1. Cinnamon toast especially on white bread is the best!! My Mom would make that for us too as a treat sometimes!
Buttered bread is okay in some instances but yes, i agree, toasted it’s elevated lol
