We’ll see

What’s a small or minor habit your partner or significant other had that turned you off or made you want to end the relationship?

I once dated a guy who had a disgusting house. Not just hoarder status, but dirty too. Gross. A bachelor pad is one thing, but layers upon layers of dirt and grime is another.

I guess there is someone for everyone, no matter how often they brush their teeth or if they wash their hands after using the bathroom. But I always preferred people who actually already knew to do this.

I still remind my adult kids to wash their hands. They get annoyed and say they already know to do this but hey, I’m just a mom, it’s my job.

Lucky for me, Clint has great hygiene. He’s probably more picky with cleanliness than I am, to be honest. Teeth, body, hands, you name it. He keeps hand sanitizer in his truck and uses it after he’s been in a store, etc.

Me, I don’t even own hand sanitizer. I don’t like it. I do feel like my hands have the ick when I get home from shopping and I IMMEDIATELY wash them with soap, but I won’t go to the extremes (as I think of it), to keep hand sanitizer in my care. Not since Covid days anyway.

Happy to be at home this morning. Now no more going anywhere for a while. That nearly eight hour drive home from Winnipeg was brutal, as it always is.

I wrote in my journal this morning that I feel confused as to where to put my extra time. While I’m still contemplating city council, the fact that I’m not 110% sure that it is what I should do, in itself, makes me think, maybe not.

Also, my non-profit that I started The Sidney Project, needs some attention. So maybe my time and energy is better spent there.

Sid has an older bio sister who Cordelia is in contact with via Snapchat and she had a baby in the spring. She snapped Cordelia while we were in Winnipeg to ask if I could keep her baby while she’s recovering (from what, I don’t know) in the hospital. But holy crap, my plate’s full.

Not sure I want the responsibility of one more baby geez. I’m a bit flattered she asked me because I barely know her but, guess we’ll see.

    1. Thanks Mary!
Lol yes his hands sure have changed since he changed jobs too, when he worked underground in the mine (he was a miner), they were permanently dirty no matter how many times he washed them. Now he’s got more of an office job and boy have his hands changed!

  2. glad you made it back safe and sound. i can imagine all you’d like to do today is rest. so i hope you get a ton of it.

it’s crazy how we all can manage to carve out some extra free time for ourselves at this point, but like you i’ve started to rethink where alot of that free time goes and to who/what. the nonprofit is a great starting point though. Mike

    1. Thanks Mike, i definitely did plenty of laying on the couch in between unpacking/laundry.
You know what they say, the best feeling on earth is giving of yourself ☺️

  3. I recently dated someone who wasn’t as clean as I’d like, and it bugged me too. I get it, CJ. As to another baby, if you already feel maxed out, you know your limits, Love. If you become exhausted and frustrated with not enough time for your family and yourself, you will resent the additional responsibility.

  5. Working with your charity will probably help center you to think clearly about what you want to take on, or not. It’s nice that you have contact with Sid’s bio relatives for him, but careful not to fill the rest of this more open time. ❤

      1. 🙂 It’s good of you, but yes, probably best that she’s got someone else this time. You need some time for just yourself this summer!

  6. You have a lot going on, my friend, so focusing on the charity might be best for now. Serving on the city council could take a lot of your time and add unnecessary stress.

    1. The Sidney Project’s goal is to provide brand new, brand name shoes for kids in school in the community of Shamattawa (where Sid is originally from). It’s way up north, even further than we are and very remote, lots of social problems/poverty.
So we collect money to purchase the shoes, or donations of shoes themselves and once I have a good amount of shoes collected, I send them up there!
