What would make the world better?
I have a couple of confessions that I need to get off my chest. I was going to post this last night but then I got lazy.
First, I can’t say that I love Theo of Golden. So far it’s meh. When I read the synopses I thought wow, I am going to love this book. But it’s starting off very vanilla-y. I’m on Chapter 9 so maybe it will get better.
I don’t like books where everything is perfect. The scene, like this town of Golden, perfectly picturesque. The old man, despite being eight-six years old, he’s perfect. Impeccably dressed, the personality and even the looks, apparently.
The coffee shop, perfect. The coffee, perfect.
And then the first “main character”, he buys her painting or drawing or whatever it is, and meets her to get her story and give it to her. Okay yeah, so she didn’t have a perfect life, was raised by her Gramma because neither parent really stepped up but she had a happy life. She’s an accountant, her partner a lawyer. Don’t tell the author I said this but it’s almost cheugy.
I was secretly hoping that while she was meeting the old man to get the painting, her man Derrick was cheating on her or something. Like spice it up a bit. Something sinister needs to happen.
I will keep reading, hopefully it gets better. But perfect faces in perfect towns annoy me.
The other thing I need to confess, well I’ll save it for another day as this post is getting long and I haven’t even answered the prompt.
What would make the world better is more people giving of themselves.
