Now that’s a good book!

What’s one writing rule that you completely ignore?

One writing rule that I completely ignore? When I’m here, I ignore them all. I’m basically speaking through typing. I say things here in the way I’d speak them.

Besides the crappy sentence structure and mid grammar, as I do in real life, I change subjects with absolutely no segue.

Like I’m doing right now.

Remember my confession about Theo of Golden? It’s been on the NY Times Bestseller List nearly a year. I was so excited to read it. But, I didn’t like it, at all. Thanks to some good advice from fellow bloggers, I put it down and never picked it back up. Everything in that book was too damn perfect, too “storybook”.

I’m not finishing it and I don’t care.

Wednesday, I was at the bookstore in the college/university where I teach. I actually didn’t know they sold novels in there. Sounding like the most brainless person on earth, when I saw The Correspondent on their shelves (one of my all-time fave books), I exclaimed, “I didn’t know you guys sold books!”.

Anyway, I bought a book called “I LOVE YOUS ARE FOR WHITE PEOPLE”, I started reading it Wednesday afternoon and finished it last night. Now THAT’s a good book.

I love our Premier (the Premier of Manitoba for those non-Canadians)
Such a good book!

    1. It’s actually real Mike? Like he legally changed the name? My walking partner mentioned it to me but I don’t really watch the news, went on Threads last night for a sec and there was that post, i thought it was funny either way lol

      1. i don’t really know if its enforceable tbh…i think it’s like what he did with Gulf Of America. it can be named per se…but as to whether or not it will be enforced in like…maps and books, that’s another thing.

  3. I have no First Nations blood or ancestry, but my belief is that when we learn about and respect the traditions and culture of the First Nations people, we’ll all be better off. My secret dream is that Wab Kinew will be our prime minister one day. Talk about telling it like it is! Go, Wab!

  6. Thank you for the book recommendation and for the comment about Theo of Golden. I was debating whether to read that book because everyone is talking about it, but I wasn’t feeling it, so after reading your comment, I’m definitely not going to read it. Renaming the lake is such nonsense.
