Bang on

What is your horoscope sign? And is the description accurate?

You guys know I don’t put too much stock into this kind of thing. I’m…doubtful, suspicious, wary of believing in anything that’s not a fact.

I know that I’m a Sagittarius but honestly I haven’t read my “horoscope” since I was a teenager. I pay zero attention to this stuff.

So just now, to play along with the prompt, I searched mine and wow, it’s actually kind of legit. Also, I see that the birth dates to be Sagittarius are November 22 – December 21 and my birthday is Dec 21 so maybe some of my traits might bleed into Capricorn’s characteristics as well?

These are some of the good traits:

  • optimistic, yes I try to be mostly because my Dad and his mom before him (my Gramma) are/were very pessimistic people
  • adventurous, yeah, sort of
  • honest, it says “they value direct, straightforward truth over sugarcoating”, and yes that’s very very true but it sort of comes up again under common weaknesses of Sag’s lol
  • fun-loving, they bring dynamic charm, humour and infectious energy…ummm yeah of course

The weaknesses were kind of bang on too and I really hate that, but here are some:

  • blunt, their lack of filter can hurt feelings and cause misunderstandings
  • restless, story of my life
  • impatient, ummm…this isn’t so true actually
  • unreliable, their need for freedom can make them appear flaky to others
Taz, Sid & I in the elevator of this old hotel we stayed at right near the harbour in Victoria, BC, a few years back. You know I had wanted to post this pic before but because there was a box of TAMPONS in the top of the bag I thought not to. How ridiculous. Yesterday I said to myself (and several coworkers) that in my daughters’ lifetime I hope there comes a day when a female can take her tampon out of her purse and simply walk to the washroom without having to hide it in her pocket or her bra!!!! (As I hid my tampon in my bra to make the walk of shame to the bathroom)

  3. I found Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs to be bang-on about myself and many of my relationships. I’m an Aquarian, and in her description she wrote “may be going east and then turn around and go west” and I remember my mother reading that and saying “That’s exactly what you did!” – to her surprise when I was hitchhiking around Canada in my younger more foolish days.

I also read an article – wish I’d saved it – about how the craze for horoscopes began when a newspaper editor told a writer to make shit up for fun, and people went for it.

    1. Yeah see that whole make shit up for fun thing is exactly why I don’t put much stock into horoscopes lol

  5. Such a wonderful picture! I’m glad you posted it. Like you, I call BS on astrology, but there are people in my life that keep saying I’m a total Leo.

      1. Oh, I think not–but I will say that when I wore that green jumpsuit at our last gig, one of my friends said “only a Leo…”

  6. What makes me most skeptical is the way I only read something like that if I’m in a not-great place or state of mind, looking for something to shore myself up in some way. They are in the category of lots of self-help-y type things where you hope the placebo gets you to a new shore. šŸ™‚

That said, I did receive a reading once (I have gotten surprisingly few readings of any sort in my life considering how I’m always on the edges of these circles) that panned out in spooky ways.
