Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the bad experiences help you to stretch and reach further as a person, than the good ones.
Good experiences can be inspirational and make you want to do better, be better. But there’s nothing like the sting of a kick in the ass to make you stop and pay attention.
You have to endure and overcome adversity to build a set of characteristics that not only helps create a personality but it also provides an invisible shield to you and makes you strong.
I had a charmed life growing up but it was difficult at times in that my sisters and I were far from spoiled and we knew the value of hard physical work on the farm. We never owned the brand name clothes or had the video games and such, that other kids had. We didn’t have cable TV or even a VCR.
When I turned eighteen I fell head over heels with a real psycho and I know we use that term loosely these days so here are some descriptors: he was uber jealous, possessive, insecure, violent and manipulative. And he was thirty.
I’m over it now, been over it for years but it taught me a lot. It opened my eyes, big time. Nothing GOOD that could ever have happened, would have taught me what that two year journey taught me.
