A few weeks ago I jotted down a writing prompt that I thought might lead to some interesting answers, at least I’d be interested to know, and that is, what is something you have and keep in your house despite it being old and/or ugly? Something you refuse to part with even though family or friends say oh my gosh get rid of that, it’s so ugly!!
Because I love all things old and antique, some are unsightly and not in the best condition, though I’ll never part with them.
Just this winter a friend was cleaning out her in-laws’ home as they had both passed away and she posted to give away on Facebook, two kitchen chairs.
These chairs are definitely from the 60’s and are upholstered in a golden yellow vinyl material. They’re not pretty. The metal frame doesn’t shine anymore but boy are they sturdy. As were most things in those days compared to now, the seat of the chair is much smaller than chairs are today. You can really notice when you set your tushy on it.
Of course I have to have mismatched chairs at my kitchen table so this old yellow guy fits right in.
