What does your ideal life look like in 10 years?
Fairytale version: I’ve won the lottery (in real life I don’t even buy lotto tickets), and I’m living most of the year in Sooke, British Columbia, which is on the southwest tip of Vancouver Island. I’ve bought one of those condos that the kids and I stayed in last year where the entire wall that overlooks the ocean is one huge sliding glass door. Clint and I are doing the long distance thing and both completely fine with it. Sid is, of course, living out there with me. My three older kids are doing great in life and come to visit several times a year. I spend my days reading, hiking and volunteering at something.
Real life version: I’m still right here, way up north. Reminding myself everyday to bloom where I’m planted. I’m in my last year of teaching at UCN, the R word “retirement” which I’ve always dreaded is looming but I’ve got lots of projects on the go so that I won’t get bored. Sid’s in high school and the three older kids have stayed at least within the province so they bring their babies around often and we spend lots of time together.
