Word of the day

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

Tell me I’m not the only one who wakes up with words or ideas already flowing through their brains. This morning the word was PEDANTIC, and I had to search up the meaning, first thing.

After I check the time on my phone, I decide if I should keep sleeping or is it time to get up?

Coffee is number one on my list once I do get out of bed. On the second cup of coffee, I grab my journal and my laptop.

And here we are.

I have my bedroom windows open and it’s raining and smells and sounds delicious outside.

This morning I also woke up thinking about how much we analyze people in this day and age. Accusing each of “projecting” onto others or “gaslighting”, which, when I was a teenager in the 90’s, were words that were unheard of. Did we, as humans, spend so much time psychoanalyzing each other prior to the 2000’s? I don’t think so.

Maybe I’ve been spending too much time on Instagram. But it seems everywhere there is a label for us. Are you this kind of mom or that kind of mom? Is your cooking style this or this? What is your fighting style in relationships. Your love language. It doesn’t end.

Okay rant over.

So beautiful, Taz sent this the other day, driving from Durango Colorado to Twin Falls Idaho
Sid & Baby RR yesterday morning, going to miss this baby so much…he and Cordelia are on vacation for 10 days in BC
Purple sand where we camped 2 weeks ago at Wekusko Falls, yes it’s a real thing…there’s a lake a few hours from here with a completely purple sand beach…a result of high concentrations of manganese apparently

  2. Color gradiations in Taz’s photo are sooooo beautiful! Also, I’m sure you’re right about the labeling and more importantly, the ‘definitive’ labeling, where there is not just educating oneself to be able to handle conflict in our lives, etc., but being so sure we understand everything without any real expertise. I blame Oprah. πŸ™‚

    1. Lol that made me smile, i blame Oprah 🀭
Yeah like why so we need to understand so much?! Awareness is good but we’re not the damn experts! There’s some comfort with being oblivious lol, think people in the 80’s, or at least that’s how I remember it πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

      1. It’s very possible to be oblivious now, but only by burying oneself in misinformation.

      3. The idea brings to mind the owl getting through the Dursley’s obstacles in Harry Potter. I’ve narrowed down so much, but now even IG is losing the feeling of being a safe zone.

        Here is still good. πŸ™‚

    2. I remember when Oprah used to ask her audience to weigh in with their opinions on something her guest was doing. That was crazy! I was glad when she stopped that.

      1. That show was really something hey?! Good and bad, outdated ideas (for nowadays) yet kinda cutting edge at the same time.

      2. I don’t remember this, but wow, yes she was ahead of her time then, for good and ill (see Drs Oz and Phil πŸ™„).

  5. I think we analyze other people because we’re trying to make sense of ourselves and fit in somewhere. The world is weird and people and things are so polarized and we all just want to belong. I remember when being a vegetarian was enough and now there’s this kind of vegetarian and that kind of vegetarian and there’s vegan and plant based and whole food plant based and whole food plant based no salt or oil.
