If someone followed you for a full day without you knowing, what would surprise them most?
Work days look a lot different than off-for-the-summer-days. Life is pretty chill right now. Take yesterday, for instance, Sid and I stayed in bed all morning. I got up and made us pancakes and we ate them in bed.
I woke up in a good mood yesterday but as the day went on, the weight of waiting for which phone call I would receive about my ultrasound results, got heavier and heavier.
I was trying to prepare myself for which phone call I would get, good news or bad. And possibly, it’s worse because I worked in healthcare.
I’ve been the nurse in the room when the surgeon is giving the bad news about what was found during the scope, on the CT scan, from the ultrasound. I’ve been there while the patient is trying to comprehend what the plan of care will be. Surgery, a biopsy, waiting on results…in a moment a life is turned upside down.
I’ve actually had to make the phone call to the patient to say please come urgently to see the surgeon and please, if you have someone, bring them with you.
So yeah, I know all too well. Maybe that makes it worse.
Anyway, I got the good news phone call late in the afternoon yesterday. A small nodule, for now nothing to be concerned with but they want to monitor it and another ultrasound will be done in six months. The biggest PHEWWW ever.
I’m golfing with a friend this morning and very much looking forward to it.
Onward and upward.
