Live and learn

What’s the hardest thing about getting older?

For me, it’s the phantom little aches and pains. This never used to happen in my twenties, thirties and even early forties.

For example, two weeks ago my right ankle was swollen and very tender. I’d done nothing to it, as far as I know. It was an ugly cankle though.

It’s really true but once you near fifty, you’ll just wake up with random problems that thankfully, a little ibuprofen or acetaminophen will fix.

I won’t even get into my hormones changing. That’s a whole other topic, a whole other blog really.

Okay so this whole Airbnb thing, so frustrating. Cordelia and Taz (and Baby RR) had checked in a day before me and were calling me as I was driving to the city to tell me about it. This ‘n that were broken etc etc. I was thinking they were just being whiny.

Nope. It is junky. I’ve stayed in this building probably half a dozen other times, it’s called The Glass House. Pretty much all of those experiences were positive.

But this guy is a slum lord. I’ve messaged him and told him he’ll be getting a bad review. I maybe should have waited until after we checkout tomorrow but I couldn’t help myself.

Shower curtain rod broken, shower head broken, coffee table leg broken, bedroom door broken. You can tell he does the absolute bare minimum here. Makes me so mad.

Should have stayed at a hotel. Live and learn.

  3. That’s what it was like in the airbnb we stayed at when first arriving here in WA. It was awful, but because there were other properties from the same guy, the reviews had been all mixed together making it look like a great place. Grr.

  6. Awesome! Oh, those little pains, yeah, every morning as I get out of bed! The legislative building right next to the river is super cool. If I were working there, I’d take my coffee breaks sitting on the stairs, looking at the river.

      1. Absolutely, even in the winter, because I bet the frozen river looks beautiful.

      2. Yes but in winter your butt would also be frozen to the bench lol

      3. 😂 I’m definitely not sitting. Standing and drinking my hot coffee for 5–10 minutes is probably what my break will look like in winter. 🥶☕️

  7. Yes, CJ. Those aches might get worse, but I know others who have no issues. Aging is a lot of work.

  8. Lovely photos. I was stuck shortly to the baby’s smile. So cute. Sounds like a great boat ride and my Papa can relate much of those aches and pains.🤭

    1. I just count myself lucky to still be on this side of the earth even if there’s aches and pains 🤷🏻‍♀️
