Million moves

What’s a huge mistake you’ve made?

Oh geez, where do I start?

Is a failed marriage really a mistake if you have three amazing kids because of it? I haven’t decided.

When I was younger and fueled by ego, I was too judgmental of other people. Do regret that.

I’m not blaming my Dad but I grew up around too much of the three C’s that Jay Shetty says are the absolute worst: complain, compare and criticize. I did too much of that also, for much of my life.

Not taking better care of childhood memorabilia. When we were kids there was this company called Regal, maybe it still exists but I doubt it. This was obviously pre-internet days but you could order gifts and all kinds of things through them.

Anyway, Mom ordered from Regal for each of us, a School Days Treasure book where you would put your photo from each grade, also schoolwork like certificates or anything you wanted, into an envelope inside the book. It was sort of like a big journal with prompts for each grade like favourite memory, best friends, etc.

Somehow I lost mine in my million moves throughout life. I wish I still had it to show the kids.

Not sure if I’ve posted this before, my Dad is far right & beside him Uncle Joe & Aunt Edna (she was a Jehovah’s witness & Gramma & she used to get into big big fights because of it lol) Gramma is far left holding Aunty Judy on her lap, the Buddy Holly looking guy is my Uncle Monty, Aunty Janice in back with her first husband, Cam

  1. Mum kept one of those scrapbooks for me. It’s where I found my old vaccination records the province didn’t keep track of.

  4. i know what you mean here. at this stage in our lives, mistakes can be labeled as so but our present has its roots in those mistakes. i know that it’s not the same for you and I as with others but in a weird way, i’m thankful for my mistakes. but I want to hold it in a productive tension so I still will say that they were, objectively, mistakes.

i guess it depends on how the rest of your life tracks, which sounds like a cop-out ya know? lol. i don’t know Ceej. i guess staying away from bum people with bum attitudes who con you into thinking they are more than what they are is the way to proceed through life…..
    Happy Saturday! Mike

  5. That failed marriage led to the exact three kids you wouldn’t have if anything were different, so nope, not a mistake. That’s how I feel about my own younger actions, anyway. If one thing were changed, all things would be, and I wouldn’t want that.

  7. Aunty Judy looks like she would prefer being anywhere other than there. I like that there’s still a donut on the platter and I’m wondering how many people there wanted that donut but were too polite to take it.

    1. Funny story about Aunty Judy, she’s something like 11 or 12 years younger than my Dad and he says that he had no idea my Gramma was pregnant with her, then she just showed up at home one day with a baby girl 🤷🏻‍♀️
I said you didn’t notice she looked pregnant? He said no I just thought she had gained weight 🤭
