Allergic to chicken(s)?

Dump two or more photos from your camera roll and describe the pics.

1997. My bff at the time, we were 18/19 & she was getting married! Crazy. This was her bridal shower. The wedding itself happened in Barbados & lasted less than 5 years.
I don’t know what’s up with this hairdo. Must ask my Mom about that. No wonder at this age people mistook me for a boy. This pic was taken at Gramma & Grampa Smith’s place just outside of Drumheller, Alberta in a teeny little map-dot place called Munson. I have such great memories of that place.
Sometimes I miss my black hair. Sometimes. This was 2 years ago.
1998 I think. I’m on the floor, deep in a alcohol-infused discussion with my sisters. Thanksgiving I believe. We all brought our boyfriends to supper at my parents & a huge snowstorm happened so we had to sleep on the couch, living room floor etc that night, we weren’t able to leave til morning. I remember waking up with a headache something awful.
Summer of 2024. Sid & I were visiting at my parents & my parents were taking care of Aunty Judy’s chickens, picking the eggs because they were away. Sid was interested in these eggs in the pail. Though Dad is actually the true blue farmer, Mom raised a city girl in Calgary, he makes her go in and pick the eggs lol, which cracks me up, because firstly he detests chickens, always has, and secondly, he is allergic to them. Oh, and the old blue house in the background is actually the house I grew up in. Now used for storage etc.

      1. you know, it makes me kind of envy kids today. they have a decade and more ahead of us where they can take photos with their phones documenting so much of their lives. i suppose we could have done that too but the whole picture process seemed so disconnected when i was growing up because you still had to go to the store to get stuff developed.

  2. The rainwater that collects in that black tub, does that get used for a certain purpose? Your old house looks to tiny in the distance. Farms are kind of fascinating places.

    1. I actually don’t know Michael, maybe to use for watering flowers?
That old house was tiny, well you can’t tell from the picture but part of the house was taken off when we moved it back there and didn’t use it anymore. But even still, it was one-storey and just 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom.

      1. Work of a lifetime to sort through! Maybe one day in retirement you’ll get the itch to digitize everything. πŸ™‚

  6. How well I remember begging my mother to let my hair grow long … she always cut it into a pixie … till finally, when I hit Grade 3, she said I could grow it long as long as I took care of it. Whatever that meant! So I had long, straight hair for many years. My grandfather always said “Cut that hair!” and I ignored him, but now when I look back at photos I wish I hadn’t. I don’t miss the long hair, not a bit, except for the bad hair days (when it sticks up in the morning, when it won’t stay off my face, when it gets overgrown and looks like a helmet because I haven’t made an appointment with a hairdresser yet) when you could stick it in a ponytail and be done with it. That, to me, was the beauty of long hair. That and French braids.

    1. I LOVED having short hair and kept it mostly short right up into my 20’s and it was really only around age 30 that I decided, okay enough with the short hair and I grew it and never looked back!
