you know, it makes me kind of envy kids today. they have a decade and more ahead of us where they can take photos with their phones documenting so much of their lives. i suppose we could have done that too but the whole picture process seemed so disconnected when i was growing up because you still had to go to the store to get stuff developed.
I actually donβt know Michael, maybe to use for watering flowers?
That old house was tiny, well you canβt tell from the picture but part of the house was taken off when we moved it back there and didnβt use it anymore. But even still, it was one-storey and just 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom.
How well I remember begging my mother to let my hair grow long … she always cut it into a pixie … till finally, when I hit Grade 3, she said I could grow it long as long as I took care of it. Whatever that meant! So I had long, straight hair for many years. My grandfather always said “Cut that hair!” and I ignored him, but now when I look back at photos I wish I hadn’t. I don’t miss the long hair, not a bit, except for the bad hair days (when it sticks up in the morning, when it won’t stay off my face, when it gets overgrown and looks like a helmet because I haven’t made an appointment with a hairdresser yet) when you could stick it in a ponytail and be done with it. That, to me, was the beauty of long hair. That and French braids.
