Orange & yellow & red

Describe a cozy autumn evening that you’ve experienced or would like to.

I haven’t taken advantage of autumn collectively in an entire evening but I’ve stolen moments to take in and appreciate the beauty of it.

Every year at this time, I marvel at the colours of the leaves that are changing, dying.

The smell after rain in autumn is very different than a spring or summer rain. There’s a clean yet musty smell that I LOVE.

Yesterday morning I stepped outside into the backyard in my nightgown at dawn just as it stopped raining. The neighbours might’ve thought I looked silly but I had to smell the air and listen to the leaves and the rain.

I searched “autumn” in my camera roll & this came up, it was Oct 13/16, I believe that was the year we got snow Oct 3 & it never left til the following May, this is Clint on his argo
The other day I posted a pic of the river at Pisew Falls in autumn, so I thought I would post a pic of the actual falls

  1. I’ve never heard of an Argo. Is it for travel across frozen landscapes?

    1. Yes and it’s even amphibious and can go in water!

  2. Looks like you guys have a cold 🍂

Julian is starting to get some gold and orange foliage as the tourists arrive for apple harvest.

Overnight temps are dropping into the 50’s. But daytime still can reach 80.

At 4500′ elevation, Julian is one of the few local spots San Diegans can escape the heat ( been 95 at the beach!)

    1. Oh my gosh! Sounds like you have the best of both worlds there! I need to google this place, Julian. Such a cool name too.

      1. Thank you CJ!
Julian, CA is kind of a San Diego local staycation spot.
People like to get away from the city. Since it’s only an hour drive northwest of SD, locals come here for camping, fishing, hiking and (of course) Julian Apple 🥧

  3. Hope next time you’re in San Diego you can make time to visit the local mountains.
Many people are surprised to learn that San Diego County goes halfway to Arizona.

  4. i love the autumn rains too, kind of surreal especially when it’s starting to get dark and there’s a light drizzle on top of a heavy rain hours ago. lovely photo of the Falls!

  5. Oct 3 until May? That sounds dreadful, but then I look at your photos of winter and all you guys do/ways you keep active and marvel at how adaptable humans can be if they’re with those they love. 🙂

  6. Stepping outdoors in your nightgown?

    Hmm… 🤔🤔

I think I’d prefer, in a robe, right after a shower. Maybe a lace kimono robe.

  7. Amazing photo of the falls CJ. I love it, so majestic, nature at its best!
It’s interesting reading other people’s blog posts and learning more about the world. Having driven across America and also up most of the Eastern seaboard Canada is definitely on our travel list. Until I started researching our trip there I didn’t grasp quite how big a country it is 😊

      1. It’s on the list 😊. We like the idea of dipping our toe in the Atlantic at the start and then dipping our toe in the Pacific at the end but as I said we then realised trying to do it properly in one trip was going to take us about 4-5 months so we are breaking it down into three parts.
