What’s on your desk that makes you happy or smile?
My desk/cubicle is adorned with, what else, photos! You know how I love my photos.
To be honest, the majority are of Sid but I have photos of all the kids. Current ones, old ones. Photos of my parents. Some are in frames, others are tacked to the walls.
I also have little plastic dinosaur figurines that Sid painted, posed on shelves. And then other cheapy Dollarama decorations that spoke to me plus a string of multi-coloured, homemade knit tassels.
I have pictures torn from colouring books that Sid coloured and a “portrait” of me that a coworker sketched.
Oh and a set of fake teeth, (for teaching).
My desk is L shaped and usually an organized mess.
On the bookshelves behind me are my binders from the different courses I teach. Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty is propped up there to, to remind me.
There is a rubber penis and vagina that are used on the mannequins in the Nursing Lab for teaching purposes. Also a black light and some cream that I use to show the students how important proper handwashing is.
In other news, I wanted to give a shoutout to BeingKevin for outright OFFERING to make a website for my non-profit, The Sidney Project. When he asked if I’d ever considered a stand alone website for it, I replied that well, yes, but I know how much websites cost and I don’t have that kind of money to put towards it. He offered to make it free of charge! It looks amazing and I am so grateful.
I never thought in a million years, TSP would have a home besides its own FB page. Having an actual website makes TSP more real, more professional and gives potential donors more access.
Thank you so very much Kevin!
